บทคัดย่อ/คำอธิบาย :

Yield of cassava can be increased by improving agronomic practices or using high yielding cultivars. Four cassava cultivars which have been improved through selection and breeding were used in this study. The objective of this study is to compare different cassava cultivars focusing on growth performance under native and fertilized soils. Two cassava experiments, rainy and dry season plantings, were conducted at Sriracha Research Station. Five cassava cultivars

Rayong 1, Rayong 3, Rayong 60, Hanatee and CM3299-15 were grown under two levles of soil fertility, without fertilizer and with 100 kg of N, P(,2)o(,5), and K(,2)o per hectare. The experiments were harvested at 4, 8 and 12 months after planting. Weekly data were collected until harvest for growth characters. It was found that growth of cassava was significantly affected by planting season, fertilizer application and cultivars. Harvesting at 12 months gave higher yields and this was more pronounced at the dry season planting, Average yield increased by fertilizer application was about 39.5 % at 12 month-harvest. There was highly significant differences in fresh and dry root yields among cultivars and between with and without fertilizer application. Rayong 60 gave the highest yield follow by Rayong 1, CM3299-15, Hanatee and Rayong 3. Rayong 60 gave considerable yields at 8 months. The interactions between cultivars and fertilization was not great while the interactions of cultivar wiht planting season and time of harvests were highly significant but the trend was that yields of all cultivars increased from early harvest to late harvest. Furthermore, the inresponsiveness of Hanatee to planting season was responsible for the interaction between cultivar and planting seasons, suggesting the importance of planting specific cultivar for specific fertilizer application and harvesting at specific timing. Finally, planting in the late rainy season was generally recommened.
